See this Afghan ...

I made this afghan by somewhat copying one that a friend had years ago. It is 41x56", just the right size to toss on a couch and curl up under. I could probably weave some colored ribbon or yarn through it to "fancy" it up a little. Talk to me if you'd like one by this pattern, and we can work out a deal! (P.S. You can now see it at Baritone's Grill on Carson Road in the Center Point area of Birmingham. That's a new little karaoke place with good burgers and such. Jason, the owner, has a couch and table lamps in a corner by the stage and Wurlitzer jukebox. With the afghan on the couch, it's just the place for a couple to snuggle while Elvis croons "Love Me Tender"!)

Bobbling Along!

This is a 7x56" double bobble scarf made of 100% cotton. It is made so that it can easily be doubled lengthwise. I am short and each end hangs just below my waist without lapping it over. It is soft and a bit fuzzy because it is chenille. The color is called "fern" and the yarn total was $15. Make me an offer. I also have the same yarn in a lighter green, and in blue denim ombre'. (Update 6 years later ... I still have it ... somewhere ... but I don't know where! If you want it, I'll try to find it, but I make no promise!)

3 Little Kittens Lost Their Mittens

Do you remember that nursery rhyme? That's what these little bags remind me of. They are made by a pattern on the Red Heart yarn site. The pattern can be used with any size yarn and a compatible hook. I used Caron Simply Soft and a "G" hook. Each bitty bag is about 4" high and about 8" around. They can be used for loose change, etc., but I think I'll make one for myself and put my hearing aid charms from www.hayleighscherishedcharms.com in one! I'll be glad to make one for you, too, and I have a lot of colors on hand, or I can make a bigger one.

'nother Hat

I made this hat to replace another one. One recent Sunday, I wore a white hat and scarf that I'd crocheted (of course) to worship. One of the ladies liked the hat, so I took it off and gave it to her. I had a little bit of yarn left, so made this, just making it up as I went (and doing some "frogging") to use up the yarn. It was all I had left in that particular brand. It's a little bit big, but could always put a piece of elastic or a ribbon in it to snug it up. It's for sale of course. I think it turned out so well that I'm going to made more like it! What'dya think? (Update, 2017 ... I think I know where it is!)

Hat and Cowl

I made these a few days ago.
I used Lion brand's new "Tweed Stripes" yarn which feels similar to their "Home- spun" yarn. Both the hat and cowl are nothing more than tubes, with the hat of course closed at one end. You can pull the cowl up like a bala- clava. I wore them to worship this morning and they were plenty warm outside, and al- most too warm in the church house! If you want me to make one or both for you, let me know and we'll work out a deal ... or you can buy this set for $20 plus shipping (worn only one time). My nephew took these pictures this afternoon.

Be sure to look at the tiny silver dragonflies I am wearing that show in the picture on the top. Click on the picture so you can see it better. Those are not earrings. They are charms! - or maybe I should say they are "cherished charms". They go on hearing aids and are from Hayleigh Scott and her sisters. Hayleigh and her twin Vienna are 11 years old now. Ear Warmers!

I've made 3 of these ear warmers: one in red 100% wool (which is for sale), and the one pictured here, which my cousin Joy bought and is modeling. (She also bought a black one.) I can make them any length or width. (For sale using synthetic - not wool, cotton, etc.: $10 - price subject to change de- pending on the yarn, etc.) An elderly lady where I worship has one. Ms. Rena's seems to be commercially-made. She let me borrow it and I more or less copied it.

New Hat!

This is a simple hat, but warm, will cover your ears and stretch to fit most adults. The yarn I used has all the colors in it. It is 100% acrylic. I can make them in any color (solids, etc., though I have no more of this yarn on hand - I do have a bit of a couple of other variegated/ombre' colors). This is for sale, and because it is syn- thetic and not wool or cotton, etc., is $8 (unless the cost of the yarn goes up). Let me know what color you'd like and if I have the color on hand that you want, I'll be glad to make one in another color.

Baby Blanket!

I enjoy making baby blankets, even though they take longer to make than hats and scarves. Sorry, the baby isn't included! Isn't she a cutie! (I bought this doll and her "twin" at a thrift store! This "baby" had light "skin"; the other one has darker "skin". Both are beautiful and look almost real! ) This blanket was for sale (It sold on February 12), and is all synthetic, but real soft. I took the pictures is why the color looks different. The blanket is 30" square or maybe a little bigger. (It IS more or less square;
I have the bottom corner tucked up.) If you'd like one, let me know. I sell these for $30 (if you pick it up; otherwise, I'll have to add shipping; price subject to change if the cost of the yarn goes up, and depending on the yarn that you want) and can make them in whatever color you want - solid or with a contrasting trim, and with or without a hood. The pattern is a free one from the Lion brand yarn company.

Mesh Hat

I met Carol at a fast food place. She had heard about me through the grapevine. She didn't live far from me. She had a very much loved old hat that was about worn out because she'd worn it so often and had washed it a lot, too. It had a tag inside that it was made in some other country. She asked if I could copy it. I did, and after paying me, she asked me to make 2 more! There is a similar pattern on the Patternworks site, using Fantasy Naturale yarn. The one I copied works up much faster. I can make this in any color, and sell for $18 if I use synthetic (not wool, cotton, etc.) yarn. Prices subject to change if the cost of the yarn goes up.

Afghans

Here are 2 afghans I crocheted. I made up the one that's got a lot of yellow in it, combining granny squares and zigzags. I gave it to friends in thanks for some help they gave me. The fan pattern is one I made several years ago from a kit (probably from Annie's Attic - they have a similar one now called a "scrap fan afghan).
I sold it for $100 at a consignment shop.

Jacob's Ladder

This "throw" is called "Jacob's Ladder". I made it for the gentleman who usually takes me to worship. (The grape design tile I recently posted was for the same family.) The pattern can be found on line, though as usual, I didn't quite follow the pattern! I don't remember what size hook I used, but the yarn is plain ol' worsted weight. The brand is "I Love This Yarn", which is Hobby Lobby's store brand.

A Fancy Crocheted Hat!

This is some- what tedious because so much is post stitches. It feels as if it is doubled, but that's because of the post stitches. This also makes it feel real thick. I used a 100% synthetic yarn. The pattern is by Lisa Naskrent and is from her web site (www.crochetgarden.com). This was a gift for a lady who was in prison but on work release. The prisoners could wear only white.

Some of the "Nice Things!"

These are 4 of my recent cro- cheted scarves (and a close up). The pattern is a variation of an- other pattern that I found.
I can make scarves and rectangular shawls using this pattern. Just tell me how long and how wide you'd like one! These scarves are 5-to-6" wide and 48-to-52" long. They are "just right" to wrap around your neck twice, or put over your head and tuck in the rest. These scarves, and more of the same in other colors, are for sale right now for $15
each (prices subject to change if the price of yarn goes up). Of course if you want it wider or bigger, it would cost more.
